I have a Sony Dvd Recorder for about 4 months now, & it came with a 10 pack of Sony Dvd+rw with it, which I only use in the recorder & then into the computer to clean up & burn with Nero Recode 2. They are made in Taiwan & using dvdidenifer it codes out this: Mfg. ID=ricohjpn Media id=W11.
Wonder if these are good or not. Probably not. As out of the 10 pack, right now only have 2 that are good. Using Nero cd/dvd to check surface scan & also Vso Inspector, the other 8 all have a lot of read errors.
I have some Fugi dvd+rw, but the recorder does not like them.
So my question is does Sony make Dvd+rw in Japan. I have seen that they do on some dvd+r, but do they on dvd+rw?
Afraid to try a different brand of dvd+rw, cause this recorder is very picky on what it likes.

If your burner is picky about media, it may be possible that you need to update your firmware. Check out the link below for more information about sony firmware updates.

It's not my burner in my computer that is the problem. I have a hp 300c & have thrown a lot of crap in it & likes them all, but after burning they weren't to good. Just use the best now.
It's the sony dvd recorder that seems to like just Sony media. Anyway today was in town & seems all Sony DVD+RW are made in Taiwan, although did fine a few of the +R's made in Japan, but noticed that the mfg. date was 2005 & all the DVD+RW's are 2004. Oh Well had some Xmas money left so the first 10 were free & this 10 I got today, free also. Will see how long these last.
