First of all I was wondering if there is anyway I can burn a disc straight from my dvd drive to my external dvd burner without having to back it up to a file. My second question is as I was reading through the boards I noticed many people use multiple programs like DVDfab decryptor, dvd decryptor, Nero, etc in addition to Dvd shrink. Why is that? Can't you do it all through Dvd shrink(back up and burn)? thanks for the help

You can burn on the fly with Nero, but make sure that the drive you are reading from is capable of reading a least twice as fast as the drive that you are burning to.

As for the mulitiple programs, it is a good idea to have a big arsenal to deal with all of the new copy protections the manufacturers are coming up with. DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter are no longer being developed so they can no longer keep up with newer encryptions, but with the help of DVDFab Decrypter, DVD43, or AnyDVD they can work as they always have. As far as Nero Recode goes, it basically does the same thing that DVD Shrink does but a little faster, but it doesn't contain a ripper for copy protected DVDs.
