Hi all,
It is with regret that I write that after having some issues with burned DVD I consulted with this fantastic site and after reading many many posts, I went searching for good media.
I am sorry to say that we dont seem to have much of a choice here with regards to quality media.
Let me explain: I went to a large retailer and went through their entire stock of DVD media. Firstly, everything that I looked at was made in Taiwan or china. This included (as expected) Laser, Imation and a few no name brands. I then looked at other media which I thought would be quality. Brands like Maxell, TDK, Ritek and Verbatim . Nothing I found is made in Japan. I have treid all of the brands above and have found very poor performance.
We dont seem to get any genuine TY here and the TDK,SOny and Maxell brands sold here, none are marked "made in Japan"!
FRUSTRATED!!!!!!!!!

Same problem with me, I am currently using Ink jet printable Verbatim, made in Taiwan. I'd be interested as well.

gwendolin what sort of quality scores are you getting with the MIT Verbatims?
Are they giving you any problems upon playback in a set top DVD player? and also, how long have you been using them?
Sorry for the zillion questions mate.

I've only been using them for about 6 weeks, used 250+ to date with no obvious problems.

Australian on-line seller of quality media incl. Taiyo Yuden, Sony, Verbatim, Gigastorage, Ritek etc. Good company that deliver the goods.
Try Harvey Norman, they stock various brands depending on which stores. They sell Fuji (TY), Sony, Verb, Imation, as well as your normal crap brands like Lazer and Princo.
Try JB Hi-Fi, they sell anything from Verbatim, Sony, Maxell, LG, TDK amongst others.
Just a few for you.

I`m in the same boat as you guys.Strange though because I had used Laser for two years or more and they are still playable.Full face minus printables and I always rated them.I see my Hardley Normal are stocking them now but way over the top with the price.

Thanks for the link.
Interesting. It does look like genuine TY media.
JB Hi Fi is the one I was refering to in my first post. none of their stock is made in japan. Not even their Maxell!!!
I have just done a burn with a Ritek media abd put it throught the Nero test and got a quality score of 35 or so!!!
So much for Ritek!
Media code: RitekR03
