I've been out of the DVD burning loop for a bit and I just got a new burner (Plextor px-716a) with my old lite-on the only media I would buy was the Taiyo Yuden dvd- x8 and Ritek Ridata DVD+ x4 those were the only 2 that I would trust, seemed like anyother kinda was a coaster.(I only would buy from meritline)

anyways my question is meritline doesn't offer the Ritek Ridata DVD+ x4 anymore they now have the Ritek Ridata DVD+ x8 are they the same level of qauility ?? same or better media I.D code??

Like I said I'm scared to try any new media, it took me a while and stacks of coasters till I found media that worked for me!!

and are the TY's still top dog?

any help would be great,
Thanks.

TYs will ALWAYS remain top dog, it's just a natural progression of rated speed now~ :)

stick with the Taiyo Yudens as i've heard from MANY members that have the Plextor 716a drive that TYs work the best...along with Verbatim MCC coded media, made in taiwan...

i don't own a Plextor, so i can't say first hand, but in a recent artice, Plextor has turned to Taiyo Yuden to manufacturer it's media in the near future to be used with their newest of SATA drives :)

TYs for life, you will not regret it~

Recommended Media:

Taiyo Yuden 4x dvd-r TYGO1/ 8x dvd-r TYGO2/ 8x dvd+r YUDEN000T02/ 16x dvd+r YUDEN000T03
Verbatim 8x dvd+r MCC003
Verbatim dvd+r DL (MKM001)= flawless no compression backups

yup iam running 2 PX-716ALs and use Taiyo Yuden 99.9% of the time and every once in a while Verbatim. so def. thoses two only for the Plextor drive .actually i talked to Plextor on the phone and they test ALL there drives with Taiyo Yuden so Plextor and Taiyo Yuden media is a match, check this deal out at supermediastore
