Yep, I second Doc., Verbatim DVD+R DL "made in singapore" is the top dog right now. You can't go wrong with them, they're top notch -- I've burned roughly close to 40 backups, all flawlessly, or should I called it "sweet".

I got that 5 pack of Riteks and only got 2 for 5 that worked. Switch to Verbatim you will definitely be happier.

BizzleT, what kind of burner are you using? My BenQ 1640 chokes on Ritek DL media. Verbatim is the only DL media I will now purchase.
My neighborhood OfficeMax still has the 10 pack Verbatim DVD+ DL for $19.99.

You may need to update that firmware on your drive.
I agree with the rest, Verbatim +r DL rocks!
Also list the programs you are using. I know nero6 has trouble with the layer break. I only use DVD Decrypter in Mode ISO read and Mode ISO write.
You can also use DVD Decrypter Mode ISO read. Then open up IMGburn to burn the MDS files. It's exactly like DVD Decrypter Mode ISO write, but suppose to be a more effective burn engine for Dual layer backups.

I just used CloneDVD to burn a dual layer, first time I have tried it. Used the new Plex and the darn thing came out perfect, I used my last Ritek in case it made a coaster I would not feel so bad. Just set the size in Clone to DVD9 and did not uncheck anything, set burn speed at 2.4X and hit go.

That is what I got with my HP640C, but then got my first a Plex a USB 716A and it did the last two fine. Did so well I now replaced the HP with a 716A internal. Which I just used to do my last Ritek and it burned perfect. I am still sticking with Verbs though, I still do not trust the Riteks all that much although they are better than those Memorex crap.

based on DL experience i have gained thus far on my various drives, i STILL support my Ridata Ritek DVD+R DLs...while i do NOT recommend using them on either Benq drives, i have only made 1 coaster on the Ritek DLs using my Pioneer dvr-109 and my Sony/Liteon drives in about 70 burns now using the Ridata Ritek DLs~ :)
i will have to admit my Verbatim DLs are more consistent and i agree that they are "the best" at this point in time, but FOR ME and my setups, i have not had the issues of "coasters" on Ridata Ritek DLs.
the ONE coaster i made happened to be on my Sony laptop drive, which is a rebadged Liteon...and i made this coaster using IMGBURN when it first came out and i wanted to try the program out...whether or not that was "user error" or not, as it was the 1st time trying IMGBURN for me, i have just continued to burn my Ridata Ritek DLs using my OTHER drives that HAVE proven successful in the past... :)
i only use Verbatim DLs with my benq 1640, but with my other drives, i use either/or...
obviously MY experiences will vary greatly with other user's experiences on their setups...i just don't feel like adding to the "Ritek bashing" (single layer/printables and dual layer discs) that has been going on lately, because from PERSONAL experience, i do not have some of the issues everyone else is experiencing... :)
anyways, for your "best chances" on DL media...use Verbatim..nothing more i can add to that...seemingly Verbatim Dls work THE BEST for the MOST number of people across the board...far fewer "issues" than the Ritek DL from the general consensus...my 2 cents.
