Can anyone please help, I have just bought:

xbox v1.1
samsung dvd drive
Xecuter Lite
Evox and all other software installed

I got four xbox games which I am trying to backup on to PRINCO DVD-R (FAKE TDK01 brand) I have networked the xbox with PC (Athlon 1.1, windows xp,) used FLASHFXP to FTP into the xbox and send over the files to the PC harddrive. I then have tried xISO, GDFIMAGE and ISOTOOL to make an image of these backup files (tried HALO, DEADORALIVE, FIFA 2003 and TONY HAWKS 4) Then Burnt with Stomp Record Now Max.

Out of these only Tony HAwks 4 will boot up and it seems to work fine. All the rest just boot to a black screen and then after a while mad ghostly white-ish lines (hardly visible) go across the screen

I don't really know what it could be, cos if it was the media (Dvd-r) why would Tony Hawks4 play and all my dvd movies play on these kind of discs, only reason could be it was the smallest of the files 1.5gig the others were around 3gig and dead or alive 3 is about 4gig.

I also have the same problem as someone else on this forum with regard to not being able to select an *.ISO file in Nero, under burn image I can only select Nero compatible files, maybe this is my version?

See the people talking about not making an ISO file and just burning data in Recordnowmax, is that still by using Flashfxp and do they bother verifying the ftp transferred files, as it recommends on xbox-scene.com ?

Anyone any ideas ?

I have backed up every one of those games you mentioned and they worked fine... I use memorex dvd+r with a sony dru500a. I use flashfxp to ftp to xbox. GDFImage to make the iso. Then go to nero close the wizard click on file then burn image find where you put the iso and select it. cahnge the lil box in the corner that says cd to dvd and click burn.. this works everytime on every game i have tried which is going on 70. mkae sure you write at the slowest possible speed and use good discs.. saving 1$ for shit media isn't worth the headache

Yeh think it might be the princo dvds have bought a couple of dvd-rw and ten ritek dvd-r today so will try them tonight. It's just weird that the princo dvd-rs are fine for divx files and dvds but not for games! also annoying cos I bought 100 of them! Is it better to ftp files straight off the original game or put it on the xbox hardisk first or should this not matter?

you have to ftp to the pc first cause xbox reads discs from the outside in.. unlike everything else. cheapy discs are not worth the headache some people have good luck with them just not me, so i use the good ones

Cheers Dank, Last night I tried using Ritek DVD-Rs and everyone of them was succesful, I will not be buying anymore crappy Princos. It might save you money at first but it loses you money in the long run.
