I cant seem to make a backup of any of these movies.
I have the following programs...maybe im not using them correctly or maybe i have something set wrong...
I have:
DVD Shrink
DVD Decrypter
DVDFab Decryptor
AnyDVD (Latest Version)
DVD43
1ClickDVDCopy
CloneDVD2 (Latest Version)
Nero
DVD2one
I am getting so frustrated with this now, i used to be able to backup movie like nothing but now with all these new ones and new protections, its so difficult for me...
for the aforementioned pgms I had to use - in this order-
-DVD Decrypter (with AnyDVD in the background)
-VOB blanker
-dvd shrink
Im sure youll hear other reports say, I did it with AnyDVD,clonedvd
dvdfab,etc.etc....I tried all of these and they didnt work
Once again IMHO I'm convinced that not all MASTER DISKS are created
equal and depending on which one you c**y the results will be
different.
I too used Decrypter VobBlanker and then Nero Recode to compress/burn for The Island and The Cave. Wedding Crashers just AnyDVD and Clone there is nothing special on this one.
Here are my methods: *** all of the tools are FREE, except Nero ***
<><> A <><>
<> DVD Decrypter to rip via Mode File F
<> VobBlanker to "process" and "blank" out fbi warning, fake/bad cells/pgcs
<> encode/transcode with Nero Recode 2 (Advanced Analysis + High Quality Mode)
<><> B <><>
<> DVD Decrypter to rip via Mode File F
<> PgcEdit to "process" and "filter" out fake/bad cells/pgcs
<> encode/transcode with Nero Recode 2 (Advanced Analysis + High Quality Mode)
<><> C <><>
<> DVDFAB Decrypter to rip
<> VobBlanker to "process" and "blank" out fbi warning fake/bad cell/pgcs
<> encode/transcode with Nero Recode 2 (Advanced Analysis + High Quality Mode)
<><> D <><>
<> DVDFAB Decrypter to rip
<> PgcEdit to "process" and "filter" out fake/bad cell/pgcs
<> encode/transcode with Nero Recode 2 (Advanced Analysis + High Quality Mode)
<><> E <><>
<> DVD Decrypter to rip via MODE, ISO, Read R
<> Open Disc Image via DVD Shrink and transcode/encode as usual
<> burn with your desire buring engines
100% success regardless if it's RipGuard or ARccOS, NO required AnyDVD or DVD43.

You sure it's not the discs? Because 3 of the 4 movies you mentioned, I had no problems with AnyDVD, Shrink, and Decryptor--in that order.
Maybe your lens needs to be cleaned? I dunno. But I also believe that certain discs are just screwed. If nothing works, return them and ask for another copy.

I think it might be the discs.. Im using Sony discs. I just tried
<><> E <><>
<> DVD Decrypter to rip via MODE, ISO, Read R
<> open Disk Image via DVD Shrink <> encode/transcode with Nero Recode 2 (Advanced Analysis + High Quality Mode)
It failed on Nero Recode...it said Writing Error or something...Another disc ruined
going through to many steps to do your movies guys shrink and region+css free running in the backround most movies take me 40 min tops my stats are p4 1.7 160 gb hd 7200 rpm 512 ddr rm 4x hp burner. one thing that i do that most people dont is my system is not hooked to the internet i just use it for burning and i have windows xp corp with no service pack instaled you know that might have something to do with something you never know
maybe its just me, but I just backup the main movie on every movie with no problems. DVD Shrink, drag over main movie, burn with dvd dycypter.... Extras suck! Why waste space, less space used = better quality

What about people that like extras and bonus features? Because you don't want 'em, those people have to abide by your feelings.

I wonder if maybe I am doing something wrong here too...
If I first rip the movie with DVD Decrypter to my hard drive, when I open DVD Shrink, shouldn't I be opening the files I just ripped rather than opening the disk? The reason I ask is because when I open disk w/ DVD Shrink, I can set backup target to use Nero to write backup to disk (which I want to do). However, when I open the files that I just ripped to my hard drive instead, Nero is not listed as an option for my backup target and usually the write process fails using the ISO image / DVD Decrypter process.
I guess what I don't understand is how you can use Nero to write the dvd decrypted file to disk. Also, if I already have the files already decrypted and saved on my hard drive, how do I write them to disk without going through the whole DVD Shrink encoding process again?
Well, no, but there wouldnt be any problems here. Watch your original for extras and bonus's. How many times do you break out wedding crashers to watch the extras? This place would be basically question free if everybody just backed up the main movie, which in the long run are what we really want anyway (well most anyway). Some people may buy or rent a dvd for the extras, but havent met one yet....
Thanks Arnie. That seems to have worked for the being able to use Nero. However now, it still did not write to the disc. The error message I get says "Illegal Disc. Could not perform start of Disc-at-once. Burn process failed at 2.4x"
Not sure why this is still failing. Am I using wrong type of discs? The ones I am using are Memorex DVD-R. I can get these backup files to my hard drive but Nero does not seem to want to write them onto my blank DVD-R. Help!!
Well Memorex are not exactly the best of media, although some members have had a good results a majority have not. Better quality media is Sony, Verbatim, Maxell, Fuji or the top of the line Taiyo Yuden. What is the make/model and current firmware of your burner. Post your failed Nero log, that may give some incite into the problem. It can be found in My Computer/Program Files/Ahead/Nero/Nero History. Remember to edit out your serial number. Perhaps it would be better to write at 4x some burner do not like the 2.4x speed for -/+ R media, only for RW's.
Here is my log from the failed Nero burn process. Is my firmware located somewhere in this thread. Hope this helps. I will look into using better media. Thanks for the tip.

I did The Island, The Cave and Wedding Crashers with AnyDVD, shrink and burned with DVDD. Had absolutely no problems.
I sometimes burn only movie and sometimes do whole disk, depending on....
Don't use memosux blank dvd's. I used to only use them, after 8 months I am now reburning them all. About 1/2 have lost MAJOR picture quality (very noticible to the naked eye). I only use Taiyo Yudens now. Have only had one coaster in last 8 months and no apparent decay over this short time with any of them. (by the way, the coaster was heat related. Completely operator malfunction).
Hi, I'm pretty new to burning DVDs and I've also had a bunch of problems burning certain DVDs for example, Madagascar, Goodfellas, Half Light (new Demi Moore film, really good movie, I work at Blockbuster!), Texas Chainsaw Massacre and few others and it's really frustrating when you can't burn the movies you want.
So recently I downloaded ALL of that software:
*Dvd Shrink
*Decrypter
*AnyDVD
*CloneDVD2
*DvdFab
I got Nero with my DVD burner and this is a lot of programs to have just to burn one little dvd.
Can anyone tell me if there is a program out there with all of this that doesn't need updated that often? It doesn't have to be free I would rather just have one simple program that does all of this for me and I don't have to worry about a bunch of errors popping up.
If it doesn't matter if it is free then stick with AnyDVD and CloneDVD they both work great, and break all the new encryptions. As far as updates you really want the programs to have these often because that is what enables you to do these newer movies. The Studios constantly change there protections and the program updates are needed to keep up with this. If you want free then stick with DVDFab Decrypter so far this is one of the best working rippers for the new movies and is updated as needed. You can then just run the files through DVD Shrink or Nero Recode to compress and then burn.
