Hi, I used to have a 4x DVD burner and now I bought a 16x DVD burner. The burning time is still the same with no improvement even when use the 16x DVD disc. what is wrong?

First, make sure your new burner's firmware is upto date, DVD Decrypter can check for you or you can click on the link and do a search yourself. Updates contain greater media support, this will ensure that the media is recognized and written to correctly.

Second, in my opinion you shouldn't try to burn any greater that 8X so as to try and prevent possible write errors and ensure max compatability with set top players.

Third, make sure the burner is set for DMA mode if available.
To do this, follow the guide here..http://www.onthegosoft.com/dma_setting_nt.htm

Some burners inspect the media and will automatically either increase or decrease write speed during the burn process. If your going to try and burn at 16x, make sure the software is set to burn at 16x.
