I have a problem...I have a xbox(duh) and then I have my PC...they are almost directly right next to eachother...I have connected to xbox live through cable but now that's just too old and i want from PC to wireless connection. OBviously my PC has a wireless DSL connection to a D-Link DWL-520 PCI Adapter. This connection is great. Now what i'd like to do is take my xbox and plug it into my computer and from there i can play on LIVE. Now does anyone know what cables i need and what things my computer needs to do before i can run it...by the way the cpu is brand new 2005 XP EMachine... Very fast!!! But here are my questions again

1. What cables are needed to connect my Xbox to my PC?
2. What Things are needed to be done on my computer to be able for LIVE to work?

Please answer my questions...And One more thing...the cable i need...would that be a crossover cable cause i've heard that in other forums just wanna check..cyas and respond to my questions thx!!

Yes you do need a crossover cable. Or you can use 2 cat5's with a hub or router inbetween. Xboxdvl2 is right, but rj45 is just the type of connection at the end of the cable. A Cat5, Cat6, Crossover.. they are all rj45's. You need to also have a spare network card in your computer, and once you run the cable from your box to pc, make sure the box is on. Everything should auto set(DNS, IP, etc..) and you should be able to connect just fine. If not you can always open your network connections under control pannel and bridge the two connections.

I did this same exact thing for my friend earlier today. First of all, go into network connections on your XP machine. You should see the wireless connection there. Right click on it > properties > and the right tab (forget what it is called). Check the box that says internet connection sharing. Then connect your xbox to the pc via crossover cable. Turn off your pc, xbox, and modem. Then plug in the modem, turn on the pc, and finally the xbox. You may have to mess around with the xbox network settings a bit, but if you leave everything dhcp (at the router, pc, and xbox) you should be fine. If you go into the pc and look at the network connections, the wireless should say "connected, shared" and a new wired connection, called LAN (to the xbox) should say "connected".

There's no 'we' in team, but there is a 'me'!
