no, i just bought my ps2 used and it comes with a 1 year warranty so i dont wanna screw anything up incase it breaks later on and they see that ive taken the panel off. so what should i do?

no, it doesn't void the warranty, but your warranty is expired anyways. If it isnt a really old ps2, it just snaps off, but its very easy to break the clips holding it on (some superglue can fix this though).
