How will i use my Ps2 Backups on PS3?

When ps3 is released im not going to be able to buy alot of games in a hurry. So i would wonna play my ps2 backups/ or originals, will ps3 be able to play ps2 DVD+R discs without modifications. Also i know that 360 will be left in the dust, sony can learn from their mistakes and put more power into their wip, sony has all the good games and game developers on their side,ps3 killzone alone will put microcock to shame. And what about the ps3 controller? is there anyway to use the original dualshock2? (cause that boomarang is horrid)

Where did you get that ps2 that's in your sig? 50002a???
ps3 with 20gb hard drive
xbox 360 premium edtion with vga/hd hook up to my dell 20.1 inch widescreen lcd.
White and black 1.5 psp's
I'll take this down WHEN micro$oft decides to stop being lazy and make the capcom fighting games backwards compatible with the 360 dammit!!!

i see that you have hd advance 3.0 i just recently got it and am having troubles. i have hd connected to ide port as slave, if ne one else is starting hdadvance and nothing happens i see the hd advance screen after the playstation 2 loads and nothing if i hold a button before it comes on there is a hdadvance server mode started please wait.????/need help have laptop, loaded dbz tenkaichi onto hd havent found out if it works yet. but what all do i need have 160 gb maxtor 5400 2mb buff hd ps2 netwk adapter, crossover cable which was a
(B!+C#(an unpleasant rabbit to find)) what am i doing wrong also purchased my ps2 premodded online???help please im me always on yahoo messenger quanitros@yahoo.com

based on the way the software and hardware work this should be a fairly easy question to answer, but I will do it with a series of rhetoric questions.
Will PS3 Play DVD+R?
Yes! You can backup movies all you want and play the crap out of them. This doesnt help you with backups at all though becaseu they have software signature and therefore will not recognize.
Will my HDD and HDLOADER work?
Probably not. Simply put the PS2 HDD was a nightmere for Sony. They pretty much opened the doors to piracy themselves. You can count on the fact that PS3 will not recognize any sort of storage device not already software signed by Sony themselves, and good luck cracking those sigs, they still havent done it on PSP yet.
But what about HDLOADER?
Well, theoretically that should be able to boot np, but my suspescion is PS3 will communicate with its HDD different than the PS2 did and therefore HD Advance will more than likely not work with a PS3 HDD, sorry.
Will PS3 be able to play Swap Magic?
Yes. It should, in theory boot up most, if not all, of the versions of swap magic. Sony was able to make Gameshark V2 not boot without any other games affected but to baisically to make all the versions of Swap Magic not boot in the system would take a wide scale software code blocking which would inadvertently affect backwards compatibility. So yes, SM should boot fine.
So I can play backups?
Well.... maybe. See you still have to swap it out without the drive knowing. That may be a problem because it appears the PS3 is not drawer loaded anymore. I appears from the pictures that it self loads. That means a mod would need to be made in order to swap out the disc just like PS2 or PSTWO.
Well what about my PS1 backups?
It should be the same... if you can swap it you can boot it np. Gameshark lite still boots PS1 backups on my PS2, I dont see why its not possibly next generation.
Ok and my emulators?
Also should work if you are able to find a way to swap discs without the PS3 knowing.
What about a mod chip?
That's probably not an option. Those teams that create mod chips are for profit organizations, and unfortunately most people would rather keep a modded PS2 around rather than buy a new chip for PS3 that will load just PS2 backups. More than likely you will see chips eventually come out that will play all backups as you did on the PS2 and PS1, but it will be far off. Especially due to the fact that BluRay discs and burners are going to be cost prohibitive at first. Give it a few years nad youll see it come around. Nobody really knows what well see under the hood yet as far as protection either....

my understanding on the controller issue is also a "no" the others will be blue tooth and I dont think there are going to be conventional PS2 ports on the deck.

Swap Magic will most likely not work because Sony figured out how to make Swap Magic 3.0 not work on the Slim PS2 so they will prob. figure out a way, I'm gonna keep my PS2 for PS2 backups and PSX backups because comeon by the time I want to sell it so will everyone else so it will be worthless. If you want acually money for your PS2 sell it now and save it for a year! LOL yeah Im sold 1 of my slims w/ 12 games controller memory card and XCM case for 255 $ 1 week ago so Im gonna sell my other slim and keep my old fat PS2 w/ HD Loader v0.7c, Swap Magic 3.3 and Breaker Pro.

You must also consider the fact that Sony will have little interest in selling PS2 games and periphreals when the PS3 launches. It is not a central preoccupation of theirs to kill the "PS2 pirates". Their will exist stiff protection on PS3 games, but im sure they are not that concerned with busting down pirating of old software.
Oh yeah... and my 3.0 DVD works on my buddies PSTWP V12. The CD stopped working the same time they closed the gap on gameshark V2, which was like version 9 I think. I believe it to be more of a coincidence because they were shutting out gameshark, and coincidentaly got SM V3 CD as well. I havent seen any DVDs blocked and if I were them I would worry about affecting backwards compatibility if you started shutting out all versions of SM DVD and CD.

OH you have SMD 3.0! Can you PLEASE extract just the SLUS and SYSTEM File from your disc and email it to me I really need those files so I can run SMD 3.0 off my memory card!

Oh my goodnes, thanks for that, i brought my ps2 brandnew from someguy on trademe(newzealand),about 7 months ago. Of course i will mod my ps3 so i can play my ps2 backups on it, why change console to console, i might as well stick to one and change the games around instead, cause i know ps3 games will be expensive and all the good games wont be released so id rather play around with my ps2 games in the mean time, oh yea, and if anyone is keen for a game on timesplitters future perfect, my name iz, SativaDust, hit me up>
