Hi ,

I have a PS2 slim V12 , I moded it with an Matrix infinite and it's been working perfectly ...for sevral months ... then it stopped reading DVD's just cds ... I bought a new lense of the net replaced and it's been working perfeclty .. for another 6 months .

while playing, " I believ.. not sure" it smelled like burnt and the cd stopped spining ...The ps2 turn on and gets me tothe browsing screen .. it doesn't see the cd the cd/dv anymore . or cds' nor spin at all ...any hlep, suggestions for the troubel shooting would be gratly appreciated .. Would it be the lnse that died a gain or more like the cd spinner that fried ..

Did you install a laser fix with the v.12? The burned smell isn't a good sign. The v.12 laser will get fried if you mod it without installing a laser fix. I'd take it to a pro and see what they say. There's not much else you can do other than replace the laser and make sure you install a fix next time. With any luck your chip isn't fried as well. I sense KC36330 or Xmodds may have some input on this one.

burning smell usually mean the laser is fried, look at the laser, if it looks foggy, its dead

Thanks for your response,

As I was saying the "burn't smell " is not sure ...
The lense seems fine and doesn't look gray as the other one i replaced ...as for the modchip it still works . it's great and i can access it's menus .. it's just the spindle that doens't spin ... any suggestions ?

As for the laser fix .. could you give me anu more input about it 'casue never heard about it .

Thanks fot the input !

I actually found my old PVR-802W Lense ( the original one that i replaced it wasn't reading DVD's anymore..) and replaced the one in my PS2. and It started spining again. but ca n not read cds.. or dvd's .. so Basically that solves the issue of me believing the Spining motor was fried ..
I also compared the 2 lenses .. and the one that was in was actually greyed out , so i believe it's dead ..
Now I ordere 2 new lenses form the net ..
But I would like to know if anyone knwows hoh to adjust the 2 pots ( screws) to adjust the power for dvd and cd .. since i mplayed with my old part ...
