You were actually lucky getting Memorex made by Ritek. Problem with Memorex is not that it's crap media, it's that so many different companies produce those branded discs that you can't count on the quality. Memorex is made by CMC (the worst co. out there), Prodisc,Infodisc, Ritek and several others. Check out this link:
Best bet is to stay away from Memorex and stick to Verbatim, Sony(MIJ), Maxell(MIJ if u can get them - Made in Taiwan are Riteks) Fuji(MIJ) TYs and Ritek/Ridata.
In the past i never buy memosuck media Ha! But i was desperate cause i ranout of TY's,so only thing on sale localey was memorex.Lucky they turned out to be Ritek i was just courious about the ritekF-1 code, haven't used cheap media for about a year now, allways use Ty's,
TDK,Sony or Verb's.Thats the best media out there Thanks.

I don't intend to burn them at 16x & have never burned a disc that fast even though Mmy Plextor will do it with no problems. Does anybody have experience with these discs? No I'm not going to buy any since I prefer TY media & have several packs of Tiawaneze -R Sony's (bought on sale) that so far have burned fine with the first 4 discs at 8x.
The other day I bought a portable DVD player. There were several on the shelf (different brands & models) & each player had a DVD copy of 24 (a promo season 2 sampler disc) burned on the Memorex -R 16x media. I watched both shows on the model of player I bought & there were no freezes, skips or pixillation problems with the somewhat sratched disk & yes I watched the whole DVD. No idea what speed it was burned at...
