Is there a movie player that will let me preview rar files you see on newsgroups? So I can just download a few of the rar files and sample as not every poster provides a sample.

Not that I know off, pretty hard to get rar video format anyway, gonna be even harder to preview the rar file (even if the video is inside) from a media player, so unfortunately No.

Actually, you can preview a .RAR. Simply rename the .rar to .VOB and play it in any DVD player software. If the source is .AVI (xvid) you will need to use a utility that will allow you to play an incomplete XviD file. But the principe is the same.

Hi,

Another alternative player for viewing whats inside a .rar file is vlc player which you can find http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_players/in... Just scroll down a bit on the page and you have 1 for linux and 1 for windows.

to burn or not to burn that is the question
