I'm sorry if this has already been covered, but I could find this subject anywhere on the forums...

Can anyone recomend a good DVD download site. I've seen them mentioned on the forum, but I can't find a nice one. I'm looking mostly for classic films and independent cinema, so, if anyone subscribes a service that features a good selection on those genres, please let me know.

I really wasn't sure of where to post it, sorry if it's on the wrong place.

Netflix.com spend some dough, do it legally. Awesome selection on anything!

You can't download movies from Netflix. Netflix is a subscription rental service.

Thanks for the replay, but I was actually looking for something legal.
Guess I should have made that clear on my first post.

Thanks anyway!

That should get you started. If you want to rent movies try:
www.blockbuster.com (best deal better than netflix.com)

megabyte2 - I disagree. Netflix has a much better movie selection, IMO. Blockbuster doesn't carry a lot of stuff that Netflix does.

Hmmm I was talking specifically about their deal or prices (blockbuster is cheaper and gives you 2 free in store rentals per month). As for titles I havent noticed anything that blockbuster doesnt have that I wanted. You might find an obscure documentary that is missing from both websites but that is to be expected. Nobody beats blockbuster for renting tuesday movies. You can order a tuesday release from netflix but you wont get it till wenesday. I can rent via my free coupons (2 per month) any tuesday release the minute they open on tuesday. Netflix doesnt have this option and of course bb is the better deal its cheaper. I will trade your pippi longstocking documentary for 2 free rentals and lower cost anyday. Love live BB.

OK, Blockbuster may be the better deal for the price, but that's only because they offer free rentals if you actually go to a Blockbuster location. I have the 3 at a time Netflix deal and it's $17.99, the same price as the 3 at a time deal for Blockbuster. The free rental thing doesn't concern me anyway because the nearest Blockbuster location from me is about 30 minutes away. I'm not going to drive all the way to Blockbuster just to get free rentals when there is a Hollywood Video right up the street. It'll only be a matter of time when Hollywood Video does the whole online rental service too.

$17.99...wow thats expensive I pay $14.99 for 3 movie rentals per time and 2 in store movies + 1 free used dvd every 2 months. You do understand that $14.99 is lower than $17.99? Hmmm interesting, I suggest if you cannot rent movies at BB like while your in the area you have 30 days to use them then just mail them to me and keep the $3 savings for yourself. Its a good deal mail me your coupons and save $3 or dont make me a happy renter and pay more :(
Sniff make me a happy renter :)

P.S. the deal I get is standard nothing special

Well, from the looks of it, you must have the 2 at a time plan, not 3. These are the same rates that apply with Netflix as well:

Thinking of trying on line DVD rental what shape are the DVD 's in are they all scratched or un viewable? Do they hassel you when you want a credit for a unwatchable movie, what about canceling at anytime.
Thanks

Oh I see you are willing to pay the higher price? Mention the competitive price for the deal this is my actual bill.

BLOCKBUSTER Store Membership #: None Change

Yes you will get the same deal if you say your a NETFLIX CUSTOMER AND WANT TO SWITCH OVER. Its called competitive pricing, all forms of sales are based on it. When you pay your cellular bill you simply say I dont want to pay $39.99 and you dont have to you pay less. Find a better they will match it. Do you actually pay the list price for anything. Man I buy my frozen pizza at giant for less than the price that comes up with the bar code. I take printouts of all competitors ads and they match it saves me alot of money. NEVER PAY THE ADVERTISED PRICE price shop. Oh yeah I pay much less for cellular then I suspect all of you. But then again my favorite president is Ronald Reagan and I believe government shouldnt get my tax money. Yes im a republican and want to keep more of my money then the rest of the herd. I bet you pay your speeding fines instead of going to court and negociating a lesser fine. Oh didnt know you could do that? Yeah its called making a deal or compromise. Man you know how many failure to yield for a stop sign I have on my driving record instead of reckless driving +20 mph over speed limit? Im through educating you if you want to pay retail the rest of your life go ahead someone has to its just not going to be me.

Sorry about that to the guy who asked about scratched rentals, the answer is yes sometimes if you rent an oldier movie it will be scratched and once in a great while it might be unplayable. I have asked for a replacement for a cracked disc maybe 3 times out of hundreds and whats nice is if your agreement says you can rent 3 at a time both netflix and blockbuster will credit your account and give you 4 rentals so you dont lose your 1 rental while your reshipped disc is sent out to replace the cracked one. I have even noticed a loss of shippment or non credit of a lost disc to my account. Basically these 2 companies ask no questions when you lose a disc or the mailman or whatever they just credit your account and you pay nothing its a nice system for us the customers. I reccomend rental companies alot I have used both and settled with blockbuster as it offered me more. I would check out both companies stocks of obscure movies and see which one has the movies you like the most both are going to have the latest movies on tap. I like alot of music concerts and documentaries so its important to me that my rental company have a large listing of these genres.
