This is a very wierd case, i know alot about computers but cant get past this problem, my only guess is this computer needs a new motherboard, but lets see if anyone can help, my brother has a desktop, its old now, it has a P4 1.5GHz, but he only needs it for his school work, the problem is, when ever he connect the USB motorola modem to his computer it restarts after a few minutes, it has anti-virus software and everything including SP2 and all the latest patches, but i cant get round this problem. It has 6USB ports, and i hav tried on different ones and it doesnt make any difference, it isnt the modem, because it is linked up to my laptop right now, so does anyone have any suggestions, it only restarts WHEN he connects the modem to it.

try disabling all your anti virus and anti spyware programs before attempting to connect to the net.
also try and connect from "safe mode with networking"
if your still having no luck you could try reinstalling windows on the computer
if that fails id say the only option apart from buying a new mobo would be to use one of the other computers you have to connect to the net and network it up to the troubled comp and share the internet connection
