I have been thinking about transferring my mainly home movie collection of VHS tapes to DVD for quite some time now. I have looked at possibly hundreds of previous threads only grow more confused as to which way I should go.

I am interested in getting great quality transferrs, realizing I will have to spend to achieve professional results. I also wish to do limited editing to the point of achieving some sort of opening menu with designed title of the movie and chapter marks. I also want to potencially restore color, if needed.

Thus far the only thing I am sure of is to have a quality VCR source such as the JVC HRS9 series because it has built in TBC\DNR. I also noticed a lot of you use the Datavideo TBC-1000 to further improve video signal quality and get clean video captures.

At one point I thought the best thing to do was to purchase the Canopus ADVC-300 because it seems to improve picture quality all while taking the analog signal and converting it to digital quality. After reading your threads I am no longer sure to go this route.

I now see that many of you use a VCR, Datavideo TBC, and a good capture card, then proceed to edit and burn.

What should I do? I am very confused.

I use the LiteOn 5005 DVD Recorder, hook my VCR to the front inputs, get tape to where I want to record. Start the tape, hit record on the 5005 and come back when it's done. My recorder is set up for all types of
backups for tapes I own and for homemade too. The quality is at least VCR. This has worked for me.

I have recently converted all my old VHS tapes over to DVD. I am using a WinFast 2000XP capture card to capture video to HD. From there I am using Nero to burn the images to DVD.
I open NeroVision express

and then select capture video

hit record button and follow until burn process.
