I was wondering if anyone has used LEGAL download video websites such as www.totalvid.com. This website lets you download mostly sports videos (no hollywood movies) for a reasonible price usually $3.99 but it has one catch its only good for 7 days. My question is has anyone tried this service? After 7 days what happens? Im assuming it doesnt work or is deleted. But whats the format the file is downloaded at? What sort of copy protection would this file have? I mean it must have some way of stopping a person from copying it to say a DVD or other media. Its interesting to me this technology does anyone have any experience using this or similar websites?

I have not used the service you describe but have used Movielink.com and the quality is good the prices are between 1.99 & 4.99 for movies with a daily 99cent special which is what I usually download quality is good and it uses wmv codecs. I tried a new service Vongo but the quality was poor, same goes for google video poor quality video turns me off more that DRM lol. These files cannot be copied or encoded they have strong DRM on them but if you are bored or going on a trip and need something to watch you can't go wrong with movielink files download in minutes on broadband unlike downloading torrents which don't have dedicated servers and can take hours to days. With movielink you have 24hrs to watch them film once you start to play it or you can choose not to play it right away and save it for several days sometimes as much as 2weeks until it expires at that time it will auto delete. Movielink aslo offers free dvd style extras like trailers, making of, director commentary. Check it out new members get the first movie for 99cents so you won't go bust.

Don't want to do anything with .wmv if you plan on converting. .wmv is a super compressed file for windows media player. When converted to a larger screen size the resolution sucks.
