Hey everyone- when i used nero to check the quality of back-ups made about a year ago, several had quality scores of zero, but they still play fine in dvd players. Does the quality score mean the quality of the media or the quality of the content on the media? Also, the quality of these discs is above 95 until the test is about 95% complete. This leads me to think that I overburned these discs. Since they play fine, would reburning these backups while stripping the extra audio made better backups? or would i have to start all over and compress my originals again.
Thanks a ton!
**all these discs are either sony or fuji.
also the nero scandisc was 100% successful

Burning right to the edge of the disc is not a good practice since the disc is moving the fastest there in relation to the laser ... you also get the most jitter there and because of your poor quality scores, it is safe to assume that your PI failures went through the roof also ... Myself, I never burn any further than 4.25GB as I like to leave a 'ring of protection' on my discs ... and my scans are improved over time for this ...

You said that you're using a BenQ burner w/LightScribe and that you burned the discs approx a year ago ... so I assume that you're using a DW1625 ... Is the media +R or -R? BenQ definately likes the +R a lot more than the -R ... Also, if you're using Sony and Fuji -R that's made in Taiwan ... well that may be part of your problem ...
BenQ drives also like to burn fast ... I ALWAYS burn at 'max' speed and I get the best scans that way ...
I think that you've burned waaaay too close to the edge

I'm not calling +R Taiwanese Fuji discs junk ... I've gotten Ritek and Ricohjpn +R Fuji discs and my set top recorders prefer them to the Yudens .... However the Taiwanese -R Fuji discs ... like the ones that this thread was started about ... ARE RUBBISH
