i think you should check the thread for sales of this week, it is already covered there. also has to be MIJ (made in japan) made, then buy them, otherwise no! well in my opinion, the only MIT media that i buy is the Verbatim and Maxell, anything else forget it.

I have great success with both the made in Japan and the made in Taiwan Sony discs ... My set-top LiteOn recorder works best with the Taiwanese discs while my BenQ likes the Japanese ones ...

... good price, good media

From what I have been seeing on the local sales threads, those 100 pack spindles of sony + are turning up as made in taiwan. These will code as SonyD11 and are still pretty good.

If you have a local staples, they also have sony on sale. Spindles of 50 for $14.94 and there are taiyo yudens in some of those +8x spindles. Just look for made in japan for them. If not, then they'll be the taiwanese SonyD11 and you'll be ok with either one of them. You can get 30 cent tys,or 30 cent sonyD11's.

I've burned up a slew of those Japanese sony/fuji Yuden000-T02. I've also had a batch of the SonyD11 and they performed sweet for me on my benqs. I get the Yudens if I can.If staples don't have the japanese sony, take the ad over to Wal-Mart and they'll price match them. Walmart is also notorious for carrying the SonyD11 and Yuden000-T02 in the +8x speed. Same with Best Buy. Same with Maxell's at Office Depot.

Start looking for country they were manufactured in on those wrappers. Japan makes the best, taiwan can make some gret media, but also some crappola too!

2 local Best Buy stores (one in Pasadena Tx the other in north Houston) were very low on the Sony 8x -R discs & out of the +R. Since I buy the -R (out of choice since my Plextor can do +R too) I bought the last 3 out of one store & the last 4 (what was on the shelf) from the other store. Too bad the 50 pack Sony discs aren't on sale. They should be!

Oh all my discs are Taiwanese & burn without error (so far) at 8x. I've only burned 3 of them though.

Can't seem (in my area) to find -R MIJ Sony discs anywhere in the stores. Burned my last one yesterday. Checked the +R & all I've found was tiawanese...

I found Sony DVD-R #50 MIJ at Staples for $14.99. I bought all they had leaving the MIT for someone else. The manufacturer ID is Sony.
