All right this problem is one for the history books. I had to go into my ps2 to adjust the laser lens. My warenty was already null invoid so I opened it up. Somewhere along the process the silver ribbon that conects the Reset/Eject button to the acutal PS2 got removed. Can anyone give me DETAILED (pictures would be good) on how to hook it back together. Called Sony they in short said I was screwed.

this is the best i could find so far. The silver ribbon that goes to the Power/eject buttons is the one in the middle not circled.
they are under the disc tray, i think on the left side.

Yep that looks like it. The problem is how do i reconnect it. I can't seem to lift up the plastic to get to it.

don't know what version console it was, but there should
be a small slit under the disc tray where you can just slide
the ribbon end back into the slot.

this will tell you how to take one apart, enev though it is meant
for those installing a mod chip it will show you how to take
a V7 completely apart. All versions should be very similar,
may be a different amout of screws in the case, but most of it should
be the same.

Alrighty so the power is back (thanks again). So ya saddley enough I'm having major problems putting back on the case. The reset/eject buttons keep getting in the way. I'm seriously considering just putting the case back on with them just sticking out the side.
