hello all.

I have taken a look @ http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/ & read the educated posts in this section however failed to come across a sutible answer to my query..

I have recorded my vhs content on to my pc. The current size of the file is 9gig (3hours). The quailty is exact to what was on the vhs. However the file type is, ''Microsoft Recorded TV Show''. I intend to burn the content onto a dvd.

My questions are:

1.How do I convert the file type into better formaat, ie mpeg2? (Suggestions of any programs I could use?)

2. How do I split the content? ie the 3hour recording has 4 diffrent shows on it, I would like to spilt the 3 hour video into 4 files...

I hope this makes sense.
