I have been trying to rip XXX with smartripper & DVD decrypter(region2)but only seem to be able to get vob files which include the running comentary, not the proper soundtrack. I've never come across this problem before, can anyone help please?

How are you ripping in dvddecrypter?

I have done this backup (region2 - UK)

I used dvd decrypter, dvd2one, recordnowmax.

Are u ripping in file mode or ifo mode, I always rip in file mode?

I think I've cracked it now - I've ripped with Smartripper and only ripped the English 6 ch audio - I unticked every other audio option - thanks.

Yep, this is is what I was going to say.
In dvd decrypter (ifo mode), smartripper you can rip seperate streams (audio/subtitles) so this is the first place to look.

I use dvd decrypter for the majority in file mode which rips the complete streams, then from that point (with dvd2one,ifoedit) I can see which audio I need to keep.

Generally the audio sound track resides at id 0x80: english ac3 6ch.

Alot of dvd's have 2ch on but 9/10 this is where the commentary stream is.
