Well, first it depends on how you modded. I'm assuming you both have modded xbox's, but are they hard modded or softmodded? Most softmods come bundled with Evox and it is automatically installed as the default dash along with the mod itself. If not, you can most likely go to #xbins and get the latest softmod pack, like Autoinstaller 2.11. It will most likely be a bittorrent link at xbins, so make sure you have a configured Bittorrent client like Azeurus. I recommend Autoinstaller because it will run like a game on any modded xbox, and it gives you the option to install certain applications. Simply look around the file system, and choose install dash to C:\--this will most likely install the softmod, but hey, that's always just another line of defense against messing up your xbox. Just make sure you ftp a backup of the C:\ drive so that if you want the M$ dash back, you can send it back. If I were you, I would burn the Autoinstaller to a DVD+R--it gives the best results for me. I also recommend DVD Decrypter--I made an installer for the free version while it still existed, but look around online first.
I have about 10 dashboards on my Xbox, from Linux to Windows to MXM. Although I have to say, I can't quite fathom the purpose of something as sucky as MXM.
