I have a slimline ps2 with the extra metal piece in place to block people from using Swap devices...but supposedly the MK2 is designed to get around this piece. I'm having trouble figuring out where part 3 goes, parts 1 and 2 were easy. Here's the directions I was using: http://www.ps2-solutions.co.uk/tutorials/install_key2.jpg

Anyone have any suggestions on how to insert part 3?

Thanks for trying but that description has no detail and the pic doesn't help...I still don't understand what has to be done in order for the tool to work. It has a hook on the end of it so I'm assuming that you hook it into a hole then slide it into place but I just can't get it right. Anyone have pics or get it to work? Thanks.

I'm also having problems with the MK2 slim tool part 3. I've struggled with getting this part to work for 3 hours. When it does finally work and the disk begins to spin, it lasts for only about 4-5 min. then shuts down again. This thing is a nightmare and should be avoided. This part takes hours of minute "fiddling" as they call it whereby you will accomplish nothing but scratching the inside of your box in very obvious way. Sorry "slimtool" folks, I think you need to go back to the drawing board on this one.

I was thinking about buying Magic Keys 2 but now I'm not so sure. Seems like tool 3 is causing a lot of problems. Is there any other tool that works better and doesn't void the warranty?

Try a tape and tissue mod:

Tape and Tissue mod: From Pretense: If the fliptop doesn't work, just give up on it and do a tape and tissue mod. Open up your case again and tape the back sensor (toward the upper left and beneath the hinge part of the lid) with duct tape or even regular Scotch tape (I use several layers to be on the safe side), put the case back together, and stuff a small ball of tissue into the hole for the front sensor (lower right just above the power button).

my tape and more tape

Just about the same, just a change on Censor 'A' and Censor 'B'

Censor B - http://img393.imageshack.us/img393/572/dsc010703xc.jpg
keep the top closed, while you tape down the disk stopper, using a few layers of duct tape
Fur
Censor A - http://img393.imageshack.us/img393/4342/dsc010698we.jpg
use tiny strips of duct tape to patch over the tiny censor. I used a screwdriver to help put on the tape.

Yeah but that voids the warranty. The point of Swap Magic (for me) is that you can keep the warranty and still play backups.

I am having problems with the Slim Tool Set as well, I got Parts A and B in and when I tire to put part C in there is a metal piece blocking where it should go. I don't know what to do, I just bougth this PS2 today, is there ay way I can take the piece of Metal off or did I just waste a bunch of money importing KOC2 because I can't play it?

Please help...

EJM83,

There should be a small (no more than 3mm ) gap in the metal block. Unless PS2 has modified the most recent ps2s. I got my ps2 about a month ago and it has a gap there. Also, I had problems (described above) with tool 3. After trying to bend it because it didn't make contact with the sensor, it broke. However, I managed to replace it with a #1 size paperclip shaped in the same way and length as tool 3. The paperclip is a little more flexible and can be repositioned easier. You can shape it with long nose pliers and cut with wire cutters pretty easily. Don't make it too much longer or different, but you can make minor variations until you get it perfectly. Then use some masking tape to seal it down.

the tool "c" for magic keys 2 is a pain to fit in some cases, but they will work with a bit of patience :) it is claimed that the lid can be closed with this in place, but it definately cannot.if you try to close the lid, most of the time it will dislodge the part, and you will have to move it again to get it going.its easier to either put a tiny bit of blue tack under the square bit that sits on the top,or a bit of tape across it.at the moment,as far as i know, its the only way to use the swap magic on the new slimline ps2.if its not under warranty,it is definately far better to open the ps2 and just put a bit of tape across the top of the switch.use strong tape like duct tape.that way,you dont need to use part "c" and you can now close the lid on the ps2.for gods sake, dont do what i did in the first instance...avoid using superglue to keep the switch down.it killed both my kids ps2s.i found my only solution to getting them working again was to remove the switches totally and solder the four points under it into 1.that solved the problem, but def use tape :)
