I accidently deleted a folder from off the desktop, recycled it, now I really need it back. Tried restoring the system to an earlier point (approx 2hrs earlier) and all I got back was the empty folder containing an empty sub-folder. Can anyone help me get back my accounts folder?

Yeh Its my ow fault for not backing it up more than one time in the last year...

there are some programs out there that can be used for recovering data but if you emptied the recycle bin your chances are very slim and you probably wont be able to get them back. system restore doesnt affect files if you deleted them before a restore they will still be deleted no matter how far back you go.

have a look on google for data recovery software

Studio Comp: AMD Athlon XP 3200+ OC ~ 2.35GHz runs at 40 celcius idle and 48 under stress (aerocool GT1000 really works!), Asrock K7VT4A , 1024MB Dual Channel DDR 400, MSI Nvidia FX5200 128MB OC ~ 600MHz mem 350MHz core,80GB SATA + 200GB SATA + 120GB IDE, 7.1 Channel Soundblaster Audigy 2 Platinum EX sound and midi interface. 19" Sony SDM-HS95 TFT monitor - sweeet
Comp2: AMD Sempron 2400+ OC ~ 2.0GHz (Stable), Asrock K7S41GX, 512MB DDR 333, Onboard Graphics, 40GB Maxtor IDE

set of monitors on the way soon :P
Google is your friend...
WorkComp: LAPTOP, intel celeron D 2.4GHz, 256MB DDR, 20GB hd. NO SCREEN IT WAS SAWN OFF :S (bag of crap)

Just in case anyone else was havig this problem, somthing I just learned was when you download a data recovery program, download it to a different drive to the one with the data you want to recover (ie flash drive, mp3 player, etc) and run your application from this external source to scan your main drive for the lost data. You all probably knew that, but for anyone else like me who didn't, this will stop you corrupting your lost data.

Maximum PC gave this data recovery tool a great rating... http://www.z-a-recovery.com/download.htm
I myself couldnt figure out how to use it on my camera's flash card(yeah all my Christmas pics and vids down the pooper :'( ) But you can try it out yourself...

Oh and yeah. its a good idea to DL the prog to a thummbdrive or something like that. Cause in all reality. When you "delete and recycle" an item. Its still there... Or until you write over that space on your HD. So its a good idea to not DL much onto your own HD. OR install anything. Basicly dont add anything to your HD until you have given up on the recovery...

There are even a few FREEWARE data recovery programs (belive it or not) if you don't want to spend any money and don't know much about P2P. nameless9 pointed out a program reviewed by Maximum PC which I also heard was very good, and Maximum PC reviewed quite a few good data recovery progs pretty recently (might have been last months issue) so if your a subscriber to it, you might wanna look for last months issue (if your like me, the most likly place is the closet in your bedroom lol) and check out the reviews.
