Inter Video WIN DVD Creator Upgrade - Desperate

I have just started using WINDVD creator that came with my PC - i had been using it successfully until a few minutes ago when i thought i would pay for the upgrade to the platinum version - wish i hadn't now as it came up with a message that another application was using video overlay - there was nothing else open and so now i don't get the preview in the corner it is all black and when i go to import a media file all it does is import the audio and will not give me the film!!! I have tried opening exising projects and making new ones i have rebooted and now wish i had not purchased the upgrade!!! Please could someone help.
