Hello, I am new to these forums but I've been copying DVD movies for about 3 years now, so I thought I'd share some of my tips with any new to the DVD-copying scene who just wants to know how the hell to copy a DVD!
I've tried countless DVD Copying Programs, DVD Shrink, DVD X Copy, 1 Click DVD Copy, DVD to X, Clone DVD, NTI DVD Burning Rom, Roxio, etc. Eventually after trial and error, and whole lot of wasted DVD+R's too, I've been using Nero Recode 2, from the Nero V7.0.1.4 Premium Edition, and AnyDVD Decrypter and been getting nothing but perfect results. Recode 2 is absolutely the best of all the DVD Copying Programs I have tried. It's simple, yet very powerful, encodes at a much higer quality than DVD X Copy, or DVD Shrink, and takes me about 20 minutes to copy and burn an entire DVD movie. Nero is pretty much the same as all the other DVD Rippers in features, you can choose what to remove/include, set compression, and so on. But I've seen on many forums, that most users find it more compatible and far less buggy than any other Ripper. I have not had one error with Recode 2, and I've copied about 60 Movies with it now. Of course, Recode 2 needs AnyDVD to remove CSS and any other protections because Recode 2 can't do any of that. AnyDVD I've found can decrypt all of the latest DVD releases, and even the older versions (which I'm still using) very rarely come across an unbreakable DVD.
I strongly recommend to those new to DVD Video Copying or anyone who has never tried using Nero Recode 2 and AnyDVD to use it. It gives perfect results every time, no crashes, errors or screw-ups and AnyDVD can break any protection system. Nero Recode 2 generally seems to be more acceptant of dirty/scratched DVD's and cheap media than other burners. I've tried to record countless discs on DVD X Copy or Easy DVD Shrink, only to have them fail because the program couldn't read the disc. I used the same scratched up DVD with Recode 2 and there were no problems.
Anyway, in short I just thought I'd post a handy tip for any out there struggling to find a program that works, and very well, I know how frustrating it can be, when you've wasted about 6 DVD+R's painstakingly trying to copy a movie, only to get some random error that no one can help you with.
Just try Nero Recode 2 and AnyDVD, it works like charm. BTW, Nero Recode 2 is not a seperate application, it's always part of Nero's Burning Rom Suites like Nero Premium Edition, Nero 7 Ultra Edition, etc. So you will have to download the whole Suite. AnyDVD is a separate app however, websites for both programs are here:
