Hello

I have read a lot of bad posts about this unit here in this forum. Unfortunately my Dad bought me one of these for Christmas. I haven't had to many problems yet. Twice I've gotten the back disc error. I also have had it make a recording that froze it was the second tape recorded on the same disc and the first plays great. I asked my Dad if he still had the receipt cause I won't take too much shit before it gets returned. I also have found that some of the discs play on my other DVD player and some don't. I found that this unit also records DVD-R discs.

Well here's my question sorry I had to vent. So everyone on here that owns one of these recorders what is the best media to use for recording? I have tried Memorex DVD+R 16x all worked except 1. Verbatim DVD-R worked the best and finally now I am using Verbatim DVD+R 8x so far problem on first disc. The DVD-R media discs both play on my DVD player. I just wanna see what discs work well for everyone else. Thanks

I have been pleased with my DVDRO5MU with one exception. I have tried to record on DVD+R using Maxell discs and have not been successful. I get a "disc error" message after recording and they will not play on the iLO or any other DVD player. Have used Fuji DVD+RW amd they work great. If you visit the iLO wb site they do not list Maxell as one of the DVDs they have tried successfully but Fuji and others are listed.(See FAQ). Maybe we just need to be careful which brand we use. Will try Fuji DVD+R and see if they work.

Thanks for the info. It has been pretty good so far. I am using Imation DVD+R's now and haven't had a problem. The only thing is they don't play on my other DVD player. I have samsung and I think it is just picky cause it'll play some burnt DVD's and won't play others. I will try Fuji DVD+RW's next. I just want to find some that work on my other DVD player too.
