i have a mpg file im wanting to put on my mobile phone does anyone know how i can reduce the file size of it?

Size = bitrate * length. If you want to make something smaller, you have two options. Lower the bitrate or decrease the length.

What formats does your phone support though? 3gp? mp4?

This should do it. Converts any format to the following, 3GP, 3G2 (3GPP2) and MPEG-4 (.mp4).
