Hi everyone, new to the board (be gentle) but have two questions :

1 - Is there a compiled list of "bad" DVDs that cause problems?

In the past, I just used DVDShrink/Nero to make my happy backup copies. Lot of problems there though.

2 - Is there a clear guide for newbies to using VOB? I have it but after looking at two different "How To" guides for two different movies, I am still unsure of how to find the bad cells/sectors in other movies?

What I have at my disposal now is : DVDDecrypter, DVDshrink, Nero, VOB (but don't know how to use it.) What else do I need to make this as painless as possible?

I see alcohol has some great posts on here, but as a newbie I might not find the time to sit down and read all of them to gleen new info. If anyone has it saved, can they post a link?

Thanks in advance.

If you don't know WHAT/WHERE to blank out, then all you do is click on PROCESS, once you've loaded your "input" VIDEO_TS folder and "output" VIDEO_TS folder. This will work just fine.

Here http://members.aol.com/posunplugged/jsoto/VobBlanker_2100_exe.zip is the latest version from VobBlanker 2.1.0.0 (this version is more advanced, more stronger to handle ARccOS and RipGuard or any fake/bad cells/pgcs/sectors). In addition, it has a built in video screen, so you can just simply click on any VTS_XX_*.VOB or PGCs and "blank" them, if it's nothing related to the movie (or movie file).

If you don't know what to "blank" or take out/edit, then all you need to do is follow the folowing simple steps:

<><> set "your input" <====== this is your source aka VIDEO_TS folder that your ripped with DVDFAB Decrypter or DVD Decrypter via Mode, File F earlier.

<><> set "your output" <===== this is your new VIDEO_TS folder, **NOTE: you will have to encode/transcode this with either DVD Shrink or Nero Recode 2 (your choice).

<><> now click PROCESS (that's it... sit back and wait until VobBlanker process and filter out any encrypted protections (ie bad/fake cells, pgcs, sectors, etc.), VobBlanker should take anywhere from 5 - 10 minutes depending on how big is the movie files.

<><> now import your new/clean/fresh VIDEO_TS folder into DVD Shrink or Nero Recode 2 and the rest is history. **NOTE: this is your new VIDEO_TS folder that VobBlanker has successfully processed and filtered out junks already only, not your first ripped VIDEO_TS folder that you ripped it from DVD Decrypter or DVDFAB Decrypter.

<><> once DVD Shrink or Nero Recode 2 is completed, burn your movie with any of your desire VIDEO_TS burning engines.

Another useful tool is PgcEdit with PSL2 plugin and FixVTS (this tool is as strong as VobBlanker, but you can't "blank" out any unwanted scenes such as fbi warning, unwanted previews/trailers, etc. However, it will handle (filter out) craps, junks, bad/fake cells, pgcs, sectors flawlessly.

Enjoy it!!

WARNING: Do not "update/upgrade" your SAMSUNG BD-D5XXX series (Bluray Player), or else you cant enjoy any of your movie files.
