I have been using this software for awhile and it works great. My only complaint is that after converting, encoding with shrink, and then burning with dcrypter that some of the movies don't play in my stand alone. I then use dvdsanta and I'm good to go. But I don't like to waste discs, so without having to test each movie on a rw disc is there anyway of telling if the finished movie is going to work, or is that just the risk I take? Also does anyone no why some movies don't convert properly? Thanx.
What brand of blanks are you using? Some older stand alones might have trouble reading DVD+R discs, since these types of discs came out around 2003. Using DVD-R might be the way to go. The number rule for burning movies is to use quality blanks. Using them would minimize the usual problems: skipping, pixelation, or even freezing. A good way to make your burnt dvd to be compatible is booktype your DVD+r disc to DVD-ROM. By doing this, you will fool the standalone thinking that is a DVD-ROM instead of DVD+R. You can only booktype DVD+R discs and your burner has to be able to support this feature. Some examples of burners that allow booktyping are: LiteOn, NEC, LG, Ricoh, Plextor, BenQ, Samsung, Nutech, and possibly Sony. Also, when burning the movie, burning at 4x is best way to ensure your disc can be properly read by the standalone. If you're not able to burn at 4x, you could try burning at the lowest supported speed either the disc or burner supports.
Some software allow you to "test" and/or "verify" your burnt disc. For example, DVD Decrypter/ImgBurn allows you to test and/or verify your project to let you know if your movie is burnt correctly.
