Heylo.
I was thinking.. user's who start threads, should be able to close them also (but not re-open them, because they could open their threads when a mod may have closed them)
I have seen a few threads where someone has asked a question, then edited it saying they have found out the answer to their problem and such.
Just a suggestion!

I think it's a good idea. Would also save the mods some time too.

Cheers :)
Yeah it would, but it's just incase people feel the thread has gone on too long, or has fufilled it's purpose, you know?

I'd like to close this thread! Just kidding Mik3h!
I think that we might be forgetting something here. When a thread is started it creates synergy and sometimes leads to more then just what the original member was expecting. Others in that thread can still produce even more on topic suggestions, etc. that helps other members along the way.

Lol, yeah I guess so, It's just I've seen a lot of useless threads which does not need to be open, there are some people who want to be able to close their own threads, but you do have a valid point there!

Funnily enough, I had that same thought today, it does seem like a nice concept. But as ScubaBud points out, threads sometimes 'snowball' into a huge feast of information;
Example - 9999/10000, these sorts of posts are usually finished/answered within about 10 posts, but this one has copped over 1000..
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/89259
and if 'mindy2004' was allowed to close that thread, then it's pointless, because there is now no need to.
Plus I can see newB's abusing it..
Good shout though, Mike :-)

the best way to do this is to be able to delete your own post out of the thread, instead of editing the post.
or if ye post a message with a start of a tread and was not to your liking and if yours was the only post in the new thread.the thread can be deleted by the person who started the thread..

Wow, a thread with no posts :O :P
Yeah I suppose that's a good idea. But then you can have spammer's or people trying to get their post count up, and deleteing the evidence >:P
But I suppose you have a thing built-into a mod's account where they can see existing posts which the user has deleted (but are slightly scored out, or say "User Deleted" or something)

Just as easy to click the OFFENSIVE POST button and type in something like (Question answered--Please close thread.)

Yeah, but it can take some time for mods to close it in some cases, and often thread starters prefer it to be done right there right then before any more posts have been made.
