I've never heard of Shrink or Nero removing the color from a movie. Check the color settings to the monitor or tv. Try the disk on another system.

If you think it's definitely the software, try another. Download the CloneDVD2 and AnyDVD from http://www.slysoft.com and record the movie again and see if you get color. That will tell you if it's a software problem with Shrink and Nero or a problem with your system.

Maybe a format issue due to regions:

USA,Canada,Japan are NTSC format- region 1

Europe is mostly PAL format-region 2

Where are you from and what are you backing up?

You may have to transfer them to PAL format or vice versa, depending on where you are located.

I don't think that would be an issue. Shrink is used with good success in both the US and the UK and Japan with NTSC and PAL. No problem such as this has been a mainstream complaint. The software isn't particular as to the format. If it was a problem with the region code itself, then the DVD wouldn't play. I'm interested to see what comes of using another recording program.

You're welcome. In case you're not aware, the decryption software in Shrink is out of date and doesn't work with some of the newer encryption systems. To do some of the newer movies with those encryptions you need an up to date decryption utility like AnyDVD. http://www.slysoft.com DVD43 is free, but nowhere as good as AnyDVD. Good luck and glad you got the problem figured out. Those players are almost dirt cheap nowadays. So, at least it isn't one of those problems that broke the bank.
