I'm getting a slim ps2 today.
I need to play all the games. I should probably get a mod chip right? running off HDD doesn't work for the newest games right?

1. What is the most compatible and cheapest chip?
2. How do u copy games to PC hdd and burn? with dvddecryptor?
3. Should I get the laser fix? are they hard to install?
4. Does modding the PS2 kill the online capabilities (multiplayer)?
5. How hard is it to install a modchip in a slim ps2? should i get someone to do it for me? i'm not that good with a soldering iron
6. What are your favorite torrent sites for ps2 games? I just got God of War and Burnout Revenge from thepiratebay.org
7. Any other tips for a noob?

2.You can ask in the dvd section(ps2) of the forum how to do that
3. Yes you should get the laser fix it isnt hard to install if your a pro at it,if ur a noob stay away
4. No it depends what chip you get some can be turned off for online play
5. It is hard and you should ask a pro
6. There a lot of sites, i recommend you get a private torrent site because there games always works

i'm considering getting the crystal chip. i like that u don't have to mess with the game to have it play online

i'm looking @ teammodders.com, and i'm trying to decide if i should buy a ps2 from a store, send it in and have them mod for me, or buy a premodded for $245. hmmmmm

are there tutorials for noobs to install mod chips? if i get my ps2 from bestbuy, and i mod it myself and screw up, i can easily exchange it for another one and try again. hmmmmm

ya I think you should send you ps2 in to teammodders, there are many guides to install a chip just just search google, A pre modded chip is good because you can get a good chip like matrix Infinity or d.m.s but the crystal one is good too, i dont think you can return your ps2 if you open it,they might check for the warenty on the side thing,but you can give it a try

i just got it from best buy. talked to their customer service. i can exchange it and return only if it's doa.

anyone have feedback on the crystal chip? i'm getting it cuz i don't have to mod the games to play online. should i get it?

I say stick with the crystal chip,for the usb thing you have to get a hdd with can be costly
