well kind of.. ive been a memorex whore for a while now, unitl i stumbled across this forum. thankfully now im on the right track usin ty's. but here is my situation, i have a few hundred old discs to try to copy to good media, if i can. half are memorex cmc, and the other half are some brand i cant remember but manuf. reads OPTODISCR008..i cant afford to get enough media to do em all right away so my question is which should i be more worried about going bad first? are optodisc slightly better than cmc or vise versa. thanks in advance

Well to be honest wth you,CMC is slightly better than optodisc.Optodisc is total crap media.CMC is total crap as well but not as bad as Optodisc.I would say get some Verb's,Taiyo's,or Maxell discs that are made in Japan. The stuff made in Japan kicks major ass for example,Taiyo,Verb, and Maxell.

unless your copies already have errors, you will transfer the errors over to the new disks.
its better to just re-rip (providing you still have the originals) and transfer to the new media !!

One day when you are hurting for entertainment, scan each disk of importance, one at a time and if they have ZERO errors, make note and copy those first.

ah i never thought to do that, the thing is theyre not just movies, theres a ton of just data discs with files from my old hard drives. i guess the thing to do is just scan each one first then try to reburn it. whats best to scan it with?..
and dont worry, i started usin ty 8x printable burning at 4x and i dont plan to use anything else, i like to find one brand and stick with it..
thanks alot, this forum is very helpful

If you have Nero then use their programs, if not, then try DVDInfoPro.

optodisc is a terrible manufacturer, i would even say WORSE than CMC MAG...utter rubbish as some would coin it on here~ :)

yes, i've used them both before, so i'm not just saying this for fun.
