Hi,
I am looking to set up a home network so I can play live on my xbox. What type of cable should I be running from my pc to my xbox? My xbox is in another room from my pc so it is going to have to be a long cable. I'm obviously going to set it up with sockets in each room and run the cabling behing the walls but was just wondering on the specific type of cable I'll need.
Thanks in advance

Your best bet would prolly to get a router to hook up your computer, modem and xbox all together. If you dont want to get a router, then you will need 1 more network card so you can have 2 connections thru your computer (xbox and modem). So, I would go w/ a router...if anything, get a wireless one and then get a wireless adapater for the xbox so you wont have cords running thru each room.

I have heard that a lot of people have had problems with going wireless with the 360. The reason I wanted wired is so I dont lose connectivity.
My pc has a network card already in it with an ethernet connection socket so I was thinking I would be connecting it through that.

You would need 2 ethernet ports in your computer if you want the xbox connected to it as well as the internet....

Ditto the router recommendation - they're so cheap now, no reason not to go that route.

As far as what type of cable, cat6 preferred, cat5 if you need to save a few bucks.

ok, thanks for your help everyone. I have now got my xbox connected and running through my pc. My next question is how do you improve your NAT (network address translation)? In the Live test connections page it tells me I have a moderate connection. Can I improve this?
When playing Call of Duty 2 on Live it sometimes goes jumpy or wont let me access the network. Is this due to my moderate NAT?
Thanks

Could be that...or do you have an antivirus or firewall running? The firewall will definitely do that.
