just incase anyone was wondering, the picture loss is due to ntsc and pal resolution differences. pal is 720 x 576 pixels, while ntsc is 720 x 480 pixels (in DVD format anyway). i dont think there would be any picture loss when converting from ntsc to pal because of this but i am yet to try it. if u want u can read up on ntsc vs. pal at this site:
