Hi there,
Memorex is the company that sells you the media.
Several other companies MAKE those media for Memorex.
So everytime you buy Memorex DVD+R 16x, you can get a different Media ID.
http://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia.php?dvdmediasearch=Memorex&dvdm...
Check for yourself...
You get 1 chance out of 5 getting Media ID: MCC.....004
Rest of the time, you get crap :)
MemoSux media are not good.
Try to purchase some Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, Maxell made in Japan.

actually, Quote: ok thanks i just thought that the ricohjpn were supposed to be good ones
the ricohjpn's ARE the "good ones" under the Memorex brand...but, the chances are slim that you will get them everytime~! or the MCC004 ones for that matter..not worth the chance of getting the CMC MAGs~ :)

I really miss the RICOHJPN discs. :( I never had a problem with those. I've used TDK (TT), Ridata (Ritek), and Verbatim (MCC), but the RICOHJPNs were the best.

yeah, TDK ranks high in my book, next to the beloved memorex.. just not worth the time or money....
check office depot, they have 100 pack of DVD+R & -r for 24.99... they are ritek r03 for the + 8x and r02 for the + 4x

i don't think i need to repeat myself, but yes, i am in agreeance with both thelox714 and gear79, my hatred for TDK media will never cease...
TDK blows...rather than sucks...lol ~ :)
the ricohjpn's are very decent, i have a few of them from a long time ago that held up quite nicely~

Yes, the ricohjpn RO2's used to be very good media when they were sold under the branded ritek DVD+R name. They were actually better imho than the actual ritek R02's. I used to pray that I would get the ricoh made media instead of the ritek made media when I was using ritek DVD+R media.
As already stated you are very fortunate to get ricoh made media when you buy memorex. Chances are very slim that you will get that lucky again with memorex.

If you want the Ricohjpn-r03, Check out the Office Depot sale this week. The +16x will code out as ricohs. They usually have both 8x and 16x in their sales.
I've seen them for 20 cents each before in a buy 1/get 2 free sale.
gear79 is correct, all Office depot +8x are Ritek-R03. Pretty good for 25 cents each.

well, i bought 300 disks at OD.. got the 8x.. which are ritek r03
grabbed a spool of the 4x my mistake and they coded out as ritek r02, but i returned it for the 8x cuz i am gonna test the limits of my burner now, just see how fast i can really burn and still have good disk results with Nero scans..
but i am a nice guy, so i got both my dad and sister a spool..
oh, which by the way, i got one more member of my family converted..., first was my dad, who has learned a lesson with his memorex media... now they dont play, and now my sister, who's first purchase was a sony 25 pack at wal mart... but she got ripped, paid 25 bucks..dollar a disk..
but at least they were japan manufactured... TY's baby !!
so she will be set for a while... til she turns pro... (like me ;P)
