Modded slim ps2 plays normal games/dvds, but NOT backups... please help

I have a slim ps2 that i recently modded. The system works fine (plays all original games/movies) except for the fact that it does not play any backups, dvd movies or games. I know its not the backup games because they work on my buddies system.
Is that chip not installed properly?
Any suggestions?

hate to ask such a 'stupid' question but you did flash the chip with the Toxic bios correct? no DMS chip will boot a backup without first flashing with a 3rd party flash.

No that's not a stupid question at all. I can only imagine how many times a day you answer that one in the DMS forums KC lol. Download the Toxic BIOS and burn them to CD-R.

Download Toxic BIOS v1.4: http://www.teamtoxic.com.cn/#DOWNLOADS

Burn it to disc following this guide:

1. Unzip the firmware
2. Insert your blank CD-R.
3. Open Alcohol 120%.
4. Go to File-->Open and browse to the cue file. Double click it.
5. Once it's open under Alcohol 120%, right click the cue file. Select image burning wizard.
6. Select your recorder, set the write speed to 4x, leave the write method alone, set the datatype to PS2 and click next.
