I downloaded a movie which is XVID Mpeg-4 compressed in 23.976 fps files. There are not that many programs that can convert them onto NTSC DVD compatibles files, and I used Procoder 2.0.

The conversion works fine as long as there's no pan or travelling, because the movement will look quite "choppy", if you know what I mean.

Is there any way to get a smoother movement from these files? Will other programs handle it better?

When you say "choppy", does this mean the picture still looks good only the view actually shudders or twitches? Or, maybe I misunderstood and choppy might mean, it's a total loss of quality in picture. Please advise.

No, the image quality seems to be fine, though I should have to look at it with a darkened room later on to check on that.

By "choppy" I mean the movement seems to "stutter", as if it was a series of movements glued together instead of one same movement.

I am aware that is an aberration quite common on compressing system, but I had a look at the original AVI file through VLC and then at the transcoded (DVD compatible) file, and the problem seems to be after going through Procoder 2.0.

I too have downloaded a few flicks with this disposition. I tried everything I could possibly think of for conversion and still haven't had any luck as well. Almost makes me sick to my stomach trying to watch. Have to turn it off because it throws off my equalibriam. Anybody have a fix for this?
