Problem with NEC drive and Nero 7

Everytime i use Nero 7 to make a data disc (which i do regularly) theres usualy about a 1 in 3 chance it will be unreadable (tried it in a few different drives and it cant be read)

it's an NEC 3500 dual layer but i'm only using 4.7 disks,(mirror, platinum) i've tried on all speeds, i've got nothing running in the background, i just leave it and it comes up with no error, but a lot of the time the disks cant be read!

i've taken a few of these disks home and they work perfect every time, i'm going to check and see if another burning prog works anyway to see if its nero causing the problem. i remember i used to have music playing and i could use the net before while i was burning and never had this problem

Sounds like a media problem, I have never heard of those discs, try using Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden and burn at a slow speed of around 4X.

I have the NEC 3540A and Nero 7 and have had no issues with the combination. As suggested, try some better media such as Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden or Sony, Fuji, Maxell(made in Japan). Also, I use the hacked firmware from here: http://www.micheldeboer.nl/firmware/ .

thanks, i couldnt find any firmware when i looked myself.
I've tried using lots of different brands of dvd with the same problems, usualy if one goes wrong another one will be fine if i try again straight after.
The drive i have at home is an NEC 1500 (i think) and i have never had a bad disc even after using hundreds of cheap brand discs.

Anyway i've got the latest firmware on the 3500AG now so i'll have to see if that fixes it.
