i have a version 1.0 xbox nad im tryin to "hot-swap" it and i cannot seem to unlock the original 10gb HDD. it is already softmodded with EvoX and im not sure what dash is on. how many M$ dashes unlock the HDD and Which do i need? my main problem is i cant unlock the original hard drive. Any advice?

I only no how on Unleashx wich u simply go to SYSTEM->SETINGS->HARD DRIVE
and select the unlock hdd option.

that doesnt allow youi to unlock the hard drive in a softmodded xbox only VIEW the status and hard drive info. unless you know what the original dash is called in xbins. bc i think if i FTP the original dash i can how swap it update the dash then activate the softmod with splinter cell. Viola right?

as far as i know u cant unlock the original m$ Harddrive says u cant take a hardrive from one xbox and put it into another without a chip this is becuz the eeprom and hdd key which u should have if your trying to uinlock it in the first place using xboxHDM(hard drive Manager)but i didnt know u could unluck the original harddrive if u can XboxHDM Can do it for you aslong as u have the original eeprom...

with excecuter3 u can easily put a new hdd in your xbox without any problem

ok i tried it again (with a version 1.6b which now i hear a hotswap only works with 1.4 and below) with my chipped xbox i copyed form the stock HDD xbox (which is softmodded) i took the eeprom off and and used configmagic to add the unchipped eeprom to my chipped xbox then loch the hdd hoping itworks bc i heard t did. i must have done sumptin wrong. after lockin the hard drive i swaped them (now again maybe its bc aftr i did it it could b bc its a 1.6b) didnt work i got a error cod 06 which is kernal couldnt unlock hdd( so im supposed to put it back in t corect xbox. can i copy th kernal or sumptin to mak the xboxes identicle? bc if i can format the drive and lock it it should boot in the unchipped xbox right or is the eeprom not the only thing? i have a coupl of xboxes i can xpriment with so if i ned a diff vrsion i can o that)

any advice?
