Hi, I was wondering if there was a way to keep the modchip enabled in order to boot up a game after selecting a cheat using Gameshark. I have the retail Gameshark version 3.1 (not copied) and a Modbo 2.1 modchip. Is it possible to use gameshark cheats on a copied game? And would copying my Gameshark to a CD allow me to keep the modchip enabled for me to boot my pirated game?

all gameshark 2's made by MadCatz (anything later then a V2, the ones with the doogle) will not boot a backed up game regardless of what you do or which chip you have.

So does this mean that the reason the gameshark will not work is this lack of a "doogle/dongle"?

Gameshark 2 for Playstation 2 from the the very beginning till Version 2 manufactured by InterAct Accessories, Inc have a doogle, looks like a memory card with a shark head sticking out of the PS2...........
starting with Version 3 they are manufactured by MadCatz Inc and DO NOT HAVE A DOOGLE, they use the memory card for code storage
when MadCatz took over the manufacturing of the Gamesharks they designed it to re-authenticate the game disk in the console, this feature will not allow you to boot a backup game disk regardless of what chip you have.
you have Version 3.1, made by MadCatz, you will NEVER boot a backuped game disk with this version. i honestly do not know how to put that any more simpler if you can't follow that and understand then YOU have a breakdown in your ability to understand.

I have the original of Gameshark 2 Version 4 in my hands right now and cannot back it up. It has physical errors on the disc, seems to be some sort of protection. And yes, It is normal for it to say CRAZY_TAXI as the volume label. I CAN play backups without issue though. I use a MODBO chip that has Infinity 1.38 on it.
