the Dual Layer pause

I really don't know where to post this--or search for it. But anyway, we all know that when we're watching the new commercial DVDs that a slight pause occurs when the film is turning to the other "layer."
When backing a movie like this onto a DVD5, is there a way to get rid of that? I use decryptor to burn, if that helps.
So again, when backing up/compressing a DVD9 onto a DVD5, is there a way to burn it without that pause? It's not a necessity but it'd be nice ;)

yes i have this problem as well...i use AnyDVD & rip it through DVD Decrypter to make the ISO but when i burn the ISO thru Nero or DVD Decrypter & during playback there's a dual layer freeze or pause & you're unable to do anything

Couple of things, not all dvd players experience the same issue as yours. Your problem might be a bit different though. You should try burning dl media with ImgBurn. That is arguably the best engine to burn dl disks. Actually I have tried TMPGEnc to burn dl media and also turned out with pretty good results. Nero is not the best to handle layer breaks. Decrypter is outdated IMHO for dl burns

Use IMGBurn for dual layer burns. Creadted by the same person that made DVD Decrypter. It handles the break in dual layer better than anything else I've tried.

but ImgBurn is alright as well, correct???
alright let me get this straight...if I use AnyDVD, what program do i use to rip the ISO, DVD Decrypter???

Ok, let's do this again. For dl layer burns the best so far is ImgBurn. TMPGEnc I just mentioned as good alternate.
Now as far as AnyDVD goes, that program is only a driver helping you prevent copy protection. It is not a ripper nor a burner.
DVDDecrypter is a ripper, furthermore if you rip in ISO mode, it seems to prevent any copy protection to date. What I mean is that I didn't find any movie just as of yet that it couldn't handle.

Yeah, my question was NOT about DL burns lol. I said: "When backing up a DVD9 onto a DVD5, is there a way to burn it without the pause?"
In other words, I'm assuming the ripping records the pause onto the harddrive. Then, since I'm burning a copy with that same image, the pause is still there.
So, again, is there a way to backup a DVD9 onto a DVD5 without that original pause/slight delay?
*Edit* Since I use Shrink to rip, I checked the preferences: Edit > Preferences > Output Files and "remove layer break" is already checked. Does this mean it's near impossible to remove that layer break?

Let me try to answer your question again. I think I got your question now, sorry for the misunderstanding from my part. This is what I do, rip with Decrypter ISO mode, then mount the image into Shrink but mostly into Recode, then reauthor and burn the files with Nero. Sometime I also use VobBlanker if needed. After you finished burning and you still have the same issue, then most likely it could be your player. Like I said some are better at layer change some are not.

Anydvd works great with many programs but is designed to work best with CloneDVD 2. In most cases using those 2 programs together you will not see the layer break pause unless it is excessive on the original. If the original pause is excessive there isn't much you can do about it. We are talking about making a DL movie backup and burning it on a single layer blank. In about 90% of my backups the layer break can not be seen.

One more thing, on some releases the layer breaks are more extensive then on the others. For example the original dvd release of Contact behaves like that. In that case I doubt it that anything could be done about it. Unless of course someone with a lots of patience and the know how analises the movie around the layer break, frame by frame and is able to remove it. But that solution is only my best guess.

All right, we're all on the same page! lol
Yeah, it was never a big deal with me but I was watching the 2005 version of the Fog and I noticed the layer break. I knew there was a way to remove that (or minimize it, at least) with actual DL backups. Then it hit me about trying to remove it for DVD5 backups.
For the most part it was never noticable but like I said, I noticed it on the Fog.

so about the layer break...if u use AnyDVD, DVD Decrypter (ripper), & ImgBurn to make DVD9 to DVD9 blank media there won't be any problems with the layer break correct??? will the problem still remains?

Unless I'm mistaken, with ImgBurn burning a DL backup, the layer break is minimal--if it's even noticable. I've only made about 8 backups with DL discs and with all of them, using Imgburn, I don't recall a "noticable" break.
I was just asking about DVD9 to DVD5 layer breaks.

With the method I use from DVD9 to DVD5, I don't notice the layer break. Try it out and see how it works for you.

so no "noticeable" breaks huh...well as soon i get my movies from Netflix i'm gonna try it out...i just hope i don't want 2 waste more DVD9 blank discs

so wat ur saying is that CloneDVD v2 is the "only" program that removes the layer break? what about CloneDVD v3 does it remove the layer break...but when i use CloneDVD 3 it doesn't seem 2 remove the layer break & it doesn't make the ISO other than 2 Directory Folders: Audio TS & Video TS
