I don't know for the other Dvd-RW brands. But I know that the Pioneer DVD-RW works very well for movies and it also work with my ps2.

Sorry guys, but i allways use dvd decrypter for my ps2 backups.Easy to use ,and never failing.
I use princo media(dvd-r,comes in different sub-brands).datatrack is also very good, but you have to write them at 1-speed.
(PS: the right spelling is :"prassi primo dvd")
??? Normaly it comes with a pioneer ??

I use RecordNowMax for movies and ps2 games. I think it's the best burning software out there.

Why do you wanna buy the dru whithout the software that comes with it ??
It comes with veritas recordnow dvd recording software, which is the best program to use with the dru.I burned about 50 movies with it now.It works flawlessly.
As the dvd+r media get cheaper now(look at the cd freaks shop) i would recommend you to use +r media. If your standalone supports this of course. It is my opinion that the movies on +r media have better picture quality.(more steady image, without "flickering")
You can also burn them twice as fast..
I have a ps2,second generation as standalone player.
Another tip,for what it's worth:DATATRACK dvd+-r's are in my opinion the best AFFORDABLE !blank discs on the market.Compatible with ps2 and most standalone players.

Rubo~ the software included cranks up the price tag atleast 80$-$100 bucks, when you can get the software else where for alooooot less.
