I have never been able to rip (w/ SmartRipper) any faster than 2x with my 105. Did the rip speed get slower after you upgraded? What firmware release were you on before? I was on 1.0 before and recently upgraded to the 1.3 2x4all with no change in rip speed.

I did some searching and found this thread. I plan on trying the suggestion to do a regedit per one of the suggestions. http://dvdxcopy.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/18750

Initially I was ripping at around 6-8x on 1.0 firmware, but i have Ritek G03's and these were only burning at 1x so I upgraded the firmware 1.30 with the ritek hack. no I burn at 2x but rip is slower. BTW my PCI properties are both at Ultra-DMA, both primary and secondary IDE. I guess I'm going to use my little 12X Creative DVD drive to rip. which sucks though cuz A05 should be able to rip at least at 8x.

It depends on what disc you are ripping as to the speed.
My Pioneer 104 would only rip at a usual speed of around X2.5 - X4
So I went & bought a Lite-On 165H X16 which lets me rip anywhere between X5 - X12 or so.
The best £34:99 I've spent in a while !!
