Can anyone tell me from reading this log what might be going on ?
I Have made back-up copies of about 400 movies using the Taiyo Yuden media. Today I have had about 7 coasters for no reason I can come up with. So 400 and 7 bad ones, lets not think it's my Nero needing updating or my fermware needing updating because if that were true it would not explain why 397 were trouble free. Which leaves either the media is not always so good,( I don't think thats it) or there is something else going on. I set my target at 4300. So that's not it. Nothing else is running , I defrag regulary and erase my cookies with the adaware. I buy my media in a 100 piece spindle and have tried another spindle ,same problem. My only theory is that perhaps my burnner is going south on me ? I have bought a new burnner. though I have not installed it because I really don't think that's the problem. I would guess that I have 1000 or so burns on the LG that I am presently using and I have never cleaned the burnner in any way. Does anyone have a clue what might be going on?
Thanks.

Something with the hardware. It just may be the burner.

I know you don't want to hear it, but your Nero is ancient. You should update. Your choice though.

try a cleaning, see if it helps, if not, sounds like the burner may be headed south !

Thanks for the replies so far. I will up-date my Nero but not now while this problem is going on.
Does anyone feel it could just be as simple as some bad media? Also
Has anyone had a burnner go bad on them and if so ,what happened? Also
Do you folks clean your burnners regulary or does nobody bother?
Thanks again.

i run a lens cleaner though my drives (and thats all of them, dvd players included) at least once a week. its considered maintenance to me, as you should try it first, just for kicks.
but if your burner is burning out, they are not that expensive to replace anyway..
but i have never had one go bad yet.
and updating nero will have no effect on a hardware fault what so ever.

It appears that you have roxio installed on your system, it is known to create conflict with Nero and other recording software. Removal might be the key to your success...here is a link to the removal tool: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Uninstallers/Roxio-Zap.shtml

Never cleaned by burners, about 600 burns on my NEC and about 300 burns on my el cheapo...no problems at all. Of course I am running the newest version of Nero. When you are ready for the update here is the link: http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/enu/nero-up.php You'll need package one and two, omitting the InCD packet. Your firmware is already up to date by the way.

If your burner was going tits up, you would probably be getting a power calibration error or something other error...but wait a minute. You may want to contact LG for a replacement after reading this thread: http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=105473
