Alien13 hi :)
Ridata are Ritek's own branded media, so you are sure to get only their top quality stuff. i use only Ritek myself as per my sig.( except the 50 Verb's i've tried on the reccomendation of the creaky man himself)
just had a look at the site. is that the best selection you can get down under?

Very good grade B or budget media. Not quite as good as your verbs though. Ritek went through a phase where they were having some problems with their dye layor and you never knew if you were getting a good batch or bad batch. I'm fairly sure they have the problem ironed out and they should be ok. Sorry gurnard, I know how much you cherish ritek media. I was one of those that got a bad batch.

hi alien13,
didja ever get that backup i sent to australia?? that was a LONGGGG time ago last year when i sent it to ur dad's place of work...
anyways, Quote: Well localy i can get Verbatim, Shintaro, Laser, Teac, TDK, i think thats about it......
Verbatim is THE ONLY ONE i would suggest from that list of LOCALLY obtained media... Shintaro sounds like a "boss" from Mortal Kombat or something...LOL...oooh....look at all the pretty "Lasers" hehehe...Teac is known for manufacturing dvd drives (and not good ones at that-ie. Benq Q60 most recently) here in the U.S...they actually have a factory here about 30 min. away from me...and TDK..well, i think anyone that knows me on here will tell you MY opinion of CRAPPY A$$ TDK~ :0
but, as gurnard pointed out, the Ridata Riteks are their own "house brand" discs...while they are not "the best", they are very good considering what you have to choose from down in Aus. :)
as to them being MY personal fav. under the Ritek Ridata name/brand of 8x DVD-R RitekG05s, i HAVE read some horror stories about the printable ones lately...the ones i have used in the past were the "normal" ones...meaning, NOT inkjet printable...and i've had very good success with them...i have not tried a Ridata RitekG05
printable as of yet, but you should be ok...
try a spindle of these and see how they work FOR YOU, it's kind of a "testing stage" at this point for you...if they work out for you, great~!, if not, stick with the Verbatims that you HAVE HAD success with in the past...don't even consider the other ones you listed...especially the TDK~~ :)

Recommended Media:
Taiyo Yuden 4x dvd-r TYGO1/ 8x dvd-r TYGO2/ 8x dvd+r YUDEN000T02/ 16x dvd+r YUDEN000T03
Verbatim 8x dvd+r MCC003
Verbatim dvd+r DL (MKM001)= flawless no compression backups

@ Mort hi :)
no body whose opinion i respect has to say sorry to me ;)
if the question is put about Ritek, i answer from my own experience.
ok, i've burned a few Verb' and a few of the new Ty/Verb's, but not enough to give an expert opinion, and not being a great believer in scan results have to await the test of time (being a burn and play guy)
@ hi DOC :)
yep it seems that ppl have a prob after printing. i use printable's myself but only use a sharpie, and never a problem.
i'm going to give one of mine to my buddy and see what happens after he prints on it
@ aabbccdd hi :)
