DMS4 Pro question/install

I am VERY new to all of this and I want to install a DMS4 Pro to go into my PS2 V9 system.
(1)I am to understand that when I install ANY chip that I have to flash it before it will ready my burnt B-Ups?
(2)If so is it easy to flash and is there a manual and flash utility for this?
I will be doing the install and I know how to solder pretty good. So not worried about that. I would like to find a legit place to purchase the DMS4 Pro from ( prefer on that comes with all the wires and a great install manual ).
(3) Good site to purchase DMS4 Pro From thats gets it out timely?
(4) Good completely detailed manual, mpeg movie form this install?
(5) List of products from Radio Shack that I would need?
Sorry so many questions, I just want to get this done right the first time. Thanks guys love the site. Any help or links are welcome!

1. You will have to flash the chip with TOXIC OS after it's installed. Some modders will flash it for you, not all. Flashing it is easy. You download the firmware: http://www.teamtoxic.com.cn/#DOWNLOADS
Go with the DMS 4 Pro SE. It's design and interface is improved over the DMS 4 Pro.
2. Yes it's easy to flash. Download the firmware, unzip it, and burn it to disc with these instructions:
1. Unzip the firmware
2. Insert your blank CD-R.
3. Open Alcohol 120%.
4. Go to File-->Open and browse to the cue file. Double click it.
5. Once it's open under Alcohol 120%, right click the cue file. Select image burning wizard.
6. Select your recorder, set the write speed to 4x, leave the write method alone, set the datatype to PS2 and click next.

3. Do not attempt to install the chip unless you're an experieced solderer. Pay a pro to do it.
26. Q. I'm in the market for a modchip or premodded console. What are some reputable sites I can order from?

that isn't so, there are quite a few chips that do not require any flashing at all (and some that cant be flashed) and even some that are flashable come flashed with the ability to play backups the DMS just happens to not be one of them.

Thanks fellows for all your help. Saved me alot of time and probly some $$$ !!! I hope to get started on this soon as I have already order a new PSTWO to use while I am working on the PS2 V9 I will be modding. Got my 15 watt Iron with .032 light duty solder today from radio shack. So things are coming along. You'll probly dont hear this much from rude F'ers but, thanks again and keep on helping us noobs! ;-)

Be forewarned, you are entering into unchartered territory where many, and I repeat many, have attempted what you are about to attempt only to find they messed up their ps2. V9's are hard to modify. You will have to remove copper in many areas in order to solder and any slips, mistakes, etc will doom your ps2. And you do know you should also include the Romeo mod with a V9? You going to do that also? Good luck.

You should listed to others and get a pro to do the soldering - my father is an electronic engineer who has about 40 years soldering experience and even he had prblems soldering my DMS4 Pro chip to the board - he even stated that he had never worked on something so difficult!

I have been inside this console before to clean it out and removed everything. I didnt have to remove any copper in mine. Yes its a V9. I have done alot of work on the PS@ SCH-30001 models as to reply power supplys and Lasers. I have a degree in Jerry-riggin', :) I will take my time with the mod, I just dont trust sending out my PS2 my MOD Chip and even extra cash to someone or so thing and never have it returned! I have nothing but time on my hands anyway. I work from my home, and I am very steady with my 8 fingers and 2 thumbs! :-) LOL. I would like to thank you'll for your guidance and help. Thanks I will let you know how this mod goes in the next few weeks. I have a replyment PS2 coming tomorrow, I'm going to use it and start taking this one apart. SLOWLY! Thanks for all the help again.

with the SE layout the DMS is as easy of an install as any other chip in my experience and I'd rate the Myth chip as one of the more difficult due to poor layout of the chip and the closeness of the chip pads.
as for the 40 yrs of soldering and finding a modchip to be the most difficult thing he'd ever done, he hasn't done allot of modern component level repair, cell phones and beepers are about 30x more difficult then a PS2, and please don't take it I'm knocking your dad as I'm not, but on the same hand the guy at the radiator repair shop has been soldering for 60 yrs and i wouldn't let him anywhere near a PS2 :)

Thanks for the add assurance...Yea I dont think it can be too bad. I'm sure the slim PS2 I purchase as a playing replacement until this unit is fixed is alot more difficult the the V9.

So do you think I should mod the slim instead? Crap!! Now you have me wanting to mod that instead! I havent recieved it yet so I dont know what version it is, but...is there any good advice and wiring diagrams for that style? Also about the laser in the unit, should I get that laser fix chip or is there kinds of the slims that dont need it??? Thats what scared me out of modding it in the first place.

I've read mixed reviews on the slims needing a laser fix. Some people say the v.13 and later don't require a fix, others say all slims need the fix. I'm not a modder, so I don't know for sure, the short answer is install a laser fix. It's not going to hurt anything, and it's like an extra $5-$10 at most.

I have done over 75 V13-V14, none of them have been returned, I also do not use a laser fix on these versions

GREAT NEWS!!! Just received the DMS4 PRO SE the Laser Fix module and the wire kit from modchipstore.com and I ordered it standard delivery and it made it to me in 3 days! Everything is in NEW Sealed condition in anti-static bags. Nice company. I would HIGHLY recommend this company! Though I would share this information to you'll who keep having to wait 2-4 weeks on orders!!!
